Commissioning

Commissioning is a critical phase in the delivery of a compliant lighting, emergency lighting and lighting control systems, confirming that installations meet design intent and performs in line with statutory requirements.

At EmCon we carry out full commissioning of emergency lighting systems in accordance with I.S. 3217:2023, providing the technical validation and documentation necessary for BCAR, fire safety certification, and client handover.

Our commissioning process includes:

  • Verification of installation against approved emergency lighting design drawings
  • Functionality testing of all self-contained emergency luminaires and/or central
    power systems systems (if applicable)
  • Measurement of emergency illumination levels (lux) on escape routes, open
    areas, and high-risk task locations
  • Assessment of rated duration performance through timed discharge tests
  • Labelling, system schematics, and logbook preparation as per IS 3217:2023
    requirements
  • Issuance of Certificate of Commissioning, including inspection records and test
    results

Commissioning is conducted by qualified personnel with deep knowledge of emergency lighting systems, electrical regulations, and life safety compliance pathways. 

Whether as part of a new installation or retrofit, we ensure that the system is operational, compliant, and documented to the standard required for building control and facilities management.
